SBISD Flipchart Repository

repository.jpgIn case you don’t know, the Educational Technology Department has been working hard over the summer to train new ACTIVclassroom teachers in ACTIVstudio and the use of the ACTIVboard and ACTIVotes. So many teachers have graciously given up 6-12 hours of their summer to receive this training. Its great to see them so excited about the new tools being provided to them by the district. I know I personally could hardly sit still the first time I was shown what an ACTIVboard could do.

The Educational Technology Department is working diligently to provide ongoing support and resources to these teachers. One way we are doing that is by creating our own Flipchart Repository. If you are an ACTIVclassroom teacher, hopefully by now you have visited and joined Promethean Planet and browsed some of the great flipcharts over there.

There is no way we can duplicate that site. We just don’t have the NUMBER of educators sharing their flipcharts like the Planet does. No, what we’re trying to do is provide a place where 100% of the flipcharts on the site will be relevant not only to the Texas TEKS, but also to Spring Branch’s curriculum. Its an exciting idea, and one where I’m proud to have been a part in its creation.

The SBISD Flipchart Repository is in its infancy. But that’s where “you” come in. Currently, we have 7 teachers who are each creating 20 exemplary flipcharts to “seed” the repository. But we need more. There are dozens of teachers over the summer who received ACTIVinstruction training. You may have been one of them. And when you start to become more comfortable with the ACTIVinstruction tools and software WE NEED YOUR FLIPCHARTS!!

Hopefully, one day EVERY Spring Branch classroom teacher and librarian will have an ACTIVboard in their room. Little by little, more and more teachers are getting them in the district. No doubt the repository will grow and hopefully become not only a place for Spring Branch educators to share their flipcharts with one another, but also will serve as a COMMUNITY of ACTIVclassroom educators - a place where we can share ideas and concerns as well as flipcharts. Stay Tuned!

I am an ACTIVclassroom teacher in Georgia and absolutely LOVE it. If for some reason I have to leave my job, I will NEVER take another teaching position unless the school has ACTIVboards for their teachers. Good luck with your repository.
