Transcript of Podcast:
Hello, and welcome to the SBISD EdTECH podcast. Today is Friday, August 10 – and I’m Kary Boan. The purpose of today’s podcast is to tell you more about one of the District Staff Development Sessions happening August 21 at North Brook High School for elementary school teachers.
Becky Lee and myself will present the session “Presenting, Learning and Communicating with Podcasts” from 1 to 4 pm. In this session, Becky and I hope to give you an overview of how to podCATCH and podcast. If you’ve never before listened to a podcast, or perhaps aren’t certain what a podcast even is…the best way to become familiar with them is start podcatching. Podcatching is simply finding, subscribing to and listening to podcasts around the Internet. Becky will not only show you where to find great podcasts, but also how to subscribe to them and listen to them. She will also give you some great tips and resources of how to use podcatching and podcasting in your classroom with your students, as well as how to use them as professional development, and for personal interests.
The second half of the August 21st session will be about how to create a podcast. Everyone in the session will get an opportunity to use a free piece of software call Audacity. We’ll show you some easy ways to get you started podcasting in your classroom. We’ll also make a group podcast and publish in on the SBISD EDTech blog.
So if you haven’t already registered for an August 21st session from 1-4pm, now would be a great time to sign-up for course #1229.2261 in PDLC called “Presenting, Learning, and Communicating with Podcasts.”
This is Kary Boan signing off for now…and I hope to see YOU August 21st!
