Hello, and welcome to the SBISD EdTech podcast. Today is Friday, September 21, and I’m Kary Boan. In today’s podcast, I want to talk about some things pertaining to the ACTIVclassroom in Spring Branch ISD.
First, if you are a principal, teacher or librarian who has anxiously been waiting for the new ACTIVclassroom requisitions, you can now go to the 365geek website to take a look. To find the requisitions for the ACTIVclassroom, please go to 365geek.springbranchisd.com. You will be forwarded to the main 365GEEK website. At the top of the page is a link for the Buyers Guide. This link has a sub-link under it named ACTIVclassroom Acquisitions. Go to that page to locate the requisitions for the AB+2 boards, the standard mounted board, the ACTIVboard on a stand, and the ACTIVclassroom accessories. While there, make certain you read the instructions for proceeding before you fill out the requisition.
Additionally, the Educational Technology Department is working hard to update our Frequently Asked Questions page on the EdTech Website. Many of you have been asking about how to register your ACTIVvotes and ACTIVslate, along with other technical and pedagogical questions regarding the ACTIVclassroom. You can find a link to the Frequently Asked Questions page, or FAQ, from both the Edtech’s main homepage, and the Repository’s homepage.
Speaking of the Flipchart Repository, don’t forget to visit this site often. New flipcharts are being added daily…along with information and resources that you will definitely find useful as an ACTIVclassroom teacher.
Particularly valuable are the ACTIVResources found at the bottom of the navigation bar on the left side of the page. From there you can find a huge list of interactive websites that you can use with the ACTIVboard in your classroom, and tons of links to photos, clip art, sound effects, and video, etc. that are either in the public domain…or considered fair use for educators and students. Also there is a growing list of tutorials and other helpful tips you might want to check out.
There are so many teachers who are excited about their new boards. As an ACTIVclassroom teacher, you should think of yourself as a trail blazer for the district. In a few short months, it’s possible that many more teachers will begin to receive ACTIVclassrooms just like yourself. They will probably be looking to you for help an inspiration. Don’t forget that if you have a great flipchart you’d like to share with the rest of the district, please email me at kary.boan@springbranchisd.com and I’ll help you upload it to the repository…or help you tweak it to make it the best it can be before uploading it.
So until next time, this is Kary Boan signing off for now, thanks for listening.
