Carbon Cycle Game

This is an optional 8th grade flipchart that covers the Carbon Cycle.  Students pretend to be an atom of carbon and travel through the atmosphere.  Their path is determined by rolling the dice.

This flipchart is part of the 8th grade Living Systems and the Environment unit.

Comparing Photosynthesis and Respiration

This should be taught AFTER photosynthesis and respiration. This is a way to review the two processes since this is a difficult concept for students.

The student will be able to:

ATP: The Energy Molecule

This flipchart should be taught directly before photosynthesis and respiration.

The student will be able to:

  • List the three parts of ATP.
  • Compare and contrast ATP to a nucleotide such as RNA.
  • Describe the role of ATP as an energy molecule in cells.
  • Describe the general difference in respiration and photosynthesis regarding either producing or using ATP.

Cellular Respiration

The student will be able to:
  • Define cellular respiration and describe its importance to organisms.
  • Compare the reactants and products of Glycolysis, Krebs, ETC, and fermentation.
  • Name the locations of glycolysis, Krebs, ETC, and fermentation.
  • Compare cellular respiration to photosynthesis after finishing the photosynthesis flipchart additionally.
