Posted: October 13th, 2009 by Michelle Tagged:
Designed to accompany Holt Course 3, Chapter 6, Sections 3, 4, 5, & 6, for 8th graders.
Addresses TEKS 8.3B.
This flipchart places a heavy emphasis on conceptual understanding through Singapore Math-style model drawing and proportions with scale factors. Problem difficulty ranges from very basic to quite challenging. Topics discussed include: finding the percent of a number, finding the percent one number is of another, finding a number when the percent is known, percent of increase or decrease, and percent applications such as discount, tax, tip, mark-up, and commission.
It is assumed that you have already taught the meaning of percent and fraction/decimal/percent conversions.
