This flipchart answers the question “Why does the state of Texas make 8th grade students study US History?” Students will examine the role of education in preserving one’s freedom. This flipchart also allows students to examine and evaluate a “perfect” country and an “imperfect” country. This flipchart was designed to introduce students to 8th Grade US History but can be also used in conjunction with the Bill of Rights or the Constitution.Top Five Dates

This flipchart allows students to use higher order thinking skills in order to figure out the sequence of the five major dates (1607, 1776, 1787, 1803, and 1861-1865) that they must know. This flipchart can be used to introduce the five major dates or as a review. Articles of the Constitution

This flipchart introduces students to the articles of the Constitution. Students should already have been introduced to the principles of the Constitution.
Students will watch video clips that give details about each article of the Constitution. After watching the clips, students can look at sections of the Constitution to answer some key questions.
To review and check for understanding, students can match important information about each branch of government.
The lesson ends with review questions using ACTIVotes.
