Introduction to basic landforms. This gives kids the opportunity to learn different landforms and compare them to other landforms. The students can label different landforms and use their Activotes to check for understanding.
Home Sweet Home - Texas Unit

This flipchart follows 1st grade Social Studies Home Sweet Home unit about Texas. It includes information, identifies state symbols and what and why they represent. There are different interactive activities for guided and independent learning. There are also questions that utilize the ACTIVoters and oral or written higher level thinking. This flip chart will take at least 4-5 lessons.
Communities

Second grade students will be introduced to new vocabulary in social studies, urban, suburban, and rural through the use of this flipchart. The community flipchart has 3 pages from our social studies book, a video and activote assessment. After students finish the lesson they make a 3 page flipbook that explains the urban, suburb, and rural communities..
Beginning Map Skills

This chart is an introduction to reading maps. The students start by learning about cardinal directions and the map key. Students are assessed as they go with activotes. Children are introduced to "global address" by visiting a web site on the 8 planets then discussing what planet, continent, country, state, and city they live in. Students progress is monitored with activote questions.
