This is a chemistry lesson in which students will classify properties as physical or chemical by going to the board and using ACTIVotes. Students will classify changes as physical or chemical as well as the various phase changes with plenty of opportunites for student engagement. This lesson is part of the matter unit.

Physics 1 Academic: Grades 11 and 12

• Students calculate calories needed to change phases and raise or lower the temperature of a given sample of water in a known phase.
• Students label diagrams with phases and change of phase vocabulary.
• Students apply thermodynamics to explain the changes that occur during phase changes including molecule disorder.
